Alex Newman is a journalist and web producer. She works in the interactive division of Home Front Communications in Washington, D.C. She was part of the team that covered the 2010 Vancouver Games for USA TODAY and was also a police reporter for the Reno-Gazette Journal in Reno, Nev. She has taught journalism classes at the University of Nevada, Reno and the University of Maryland.
She is currently teaching Online Journalism at UMD and video and audio production at AU. She spends the rest of her free time biking or playing kickball.
