Alex Newman is an interactive journalist specializing in data visualization, multimedia and user experience. 

She currently works on the data team at Public Radio International in Boston, creating graphics, maps and data-driven stories.

Previously, she's worked at Al Jazeera America, the Pew Charitable Trusts, Home Front Communications, USA TODAY and the Reno-Gazette Journal. She has also taught journalism whenever time permits. 

She grew up in Reno, Nevada (Ne-VAH-DUH, not Nuh-VA-DAH) and shares her apartment with a pet tortoise, Capt. Ahab.
