Alex Newman is an interactive journalist specializing in data visualization, multimedia and user experience. 

She is currently the executive editor of The World’s digital team in Boston, having previously served as the deputy editor and senior data editor there.

Previously, she's worked at Al Jazeera America, the Pew Charitable Trusts, Home Front Communications, USA TODAY and the Reno-Gazette Journal. She has also taught journalism whenever time permits.

She grew up in Reno, Nevada (Ne-VAH-DUH, not Nuh-VA-DAH) and shares her apartment with a pet tortoise, Capt. Ahab.
