St. Louis Post-Dispatch shows high ticket spots
I came across a really interesting graphic today at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Web site. The graphic shows hot spots in terms of where tickets are issued by the St. Louis Police Department.
The graphic, which allows the viewer some pretty good detail, shows both warnings issues and citations issued and as someone who has lived there my whole life, it seems to be pretty accurate.
The reason I found it so interesting, though, is that the Post-Dispatch rarely ever does graphics like this, even online. They've stuck to their guns as a more "traditional" news source and I was surprised to even see something as basic as this. This tells me that finally even the Post-Dispatch has seen the writing on the wall: it's time to embrace multimedia.
What do you guys think? Is it time for newspapers to get with the times? Are graphics and things like this the future?

I think it's great that newspapers are adding graphics and multimedia elements to their website articles. These elements are more appealing to the eye, so they have a greater chance of holding someone's attention. If there were two stories that were exactly the same, I would be more inclined to read the one with the graphic or multimedia element because it would hold my interest and make the story easier to understand.
